Paul Carastro earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He began his career with Florida Power and Light, gaining valuable field experience before joining Carastro & Associates in 1988.
Mr. Carastro produces and supervises electrical designs from concept through construction administration, incorporating flexibility and quality that goes beyond complying with code. His experience with short circuit analysis, equipment coordination studies, critical power applications, in addition to power quality issues, provides insight that ensures project excellence and client satisfaction. His engineering specialties include paralleling switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution and uninterruptible power systems.
Mr. Carastro has 20 years of experience in the design and commissioning of data centers and mission critical facilities. He has designed and implemented critical power systems within the financial sector including projects for Bank of America, Wachovia and Citigroup. He has also designed redundant power systems for telecommunications clients including Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T. Mr. Carastro has designed war rooms and major electrical support systems for U.S. Central Command at MacDill AFB and U.S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida. He has also designed a campus wide medium voltage generation / distribution system along with a completely integrated SCADA system for the Veterans Administration.
Mr. Carastro is an active member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in 24 states and he is a licensed Commercial Electrical Inspector by the International Code Council. He is also an active member of the Associated Builders & Contractors.
